Enjoy barbecue flavor year round with this juicy slow cooker beef brisket smothered in BBQ sauce.
Smoky barbecue flavor shouldn’t be reserved only for summertime cookouts. You can achieve the same tender pull-apart beef brisket while the slow cooker does most of the work!
Traditionally, beef brisket is smoked over wood chips for hours to get those deep, aromatic flavors. To achieve a similar taste, smoked paprika and cumin are rubbed all over the brisket before pan searing to get a nice char on the outside. For a sweeter brisket, you can add a few teaspoons of coconut sugar to the rub.

You can use either a traditional beef brisket or a chuck roast in this slow cooker recipe. Start by blotting off any excess moisture from the brisket using a paper towel. This is important for ensuring a good caramelization on the meat. Next, rub the brisket on both sides with seasonings. Add ghee to a large pan and heat over medium high heat. When the pan is very hot, add the beef and sear 4 to 5 minutes on each side.
Next, add the beef and any of its drippings to the slow cooker. Smother the beef in Paleo barbecue sauce, cover and set to low for 8 hours, or until the beef is fork tender and pulls apart easily. Slice or shred and serve the brisket on Paleo bread, alongside coleslaw or on top of sweet potato chips for a barbecued nachos platter!
