Snack into these Crispy Keto Chicken Wings made with nutritional yeast and crunchy almond meal!
Much like takeout chicken wings, this recipe dredges each wing in a crispy coating. The only difference is, this recipe ditches the processed wheat in favor of nutritional yeast and almond meal. Baked instead of fried, these wings are crispy on the outside and juicy in the center.
Chicken wings are a high-protein meat with ample amounts of minerals like iron. Dark meat tends to be juicier with a richer flavor, but most mixes contain both light and dark meat. For high quality protein, try opting for pasture-raised chicken to help reduce the risk of harmful hormones and antibiotics.

The coating is a combo of almond meal and nutritional yeast. You can make your own almond meal by pulsing unsalted raw almonds in a food processor or purchase some at your local health food store. Pecans, walnuts, or cashews can also be substituted for almonds to achieve a meal-like texture. Because almonds are high in fat content, they help stave off hunger and keep you feeling full.
Nutritional yeast is a powerhouse seasoning in the Paleo and Vegan communities. It serves as a dairy-free cheese alternative and tastes similar to grated parmesan cheese. The flavor is subtle with a dry and flakey texture and can be added to soups or sauces – like this Paleo nacho cheese. As a flavor enhancer, it comes loaded with four grams of protein for every two tablespoons!
To get started, preheat the oven to 350ºF and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Blot any excess moisture off the chicken wings and place into a medium mixing bowl. In a separate bowl, combine the dry ingredients together. Add the egg to the chicken wings and toss to coat. Use your hands to dredge each wing in the dry coating and cover on all sides. Set the coated wings onto a baking sheet and bake for 30-35 minutes. Serve warm with your favorite Keto wing sauce and enjoy!
