Drizzle your favorite pancakes in this thick, 3-ingredient homemade date syrup!
Want to make your own sweet pancake drizzler with just three healthy, vegan and Paleo ingredients? This easy recipe for date syrup will do the trick. Dates are great for a quick energy boost, which is why you often find them in Paleo-friendly protein bars. They are also naturally sweet and easily turn into a silky sauce when combined with hot water. All you need is a blender or food processor to break the dates down into a thick, sweet syrup.
To make your homemade syrup, start by pouring 2 cups of hot water over a cup of dates. Let the dates sit in the hot water to soften, this will make it easier for them to break down into a sauce. Add both the dates and the water to a high speed blender or food processor and add a dash of cinnamon. Blend until smooth and silky, stopping periodically to scrape the sides of the blender as necessary. It may take a few minutes to get the consistency you’re looking for! Keep in mind that the syrup will thicken as it sits. For a thinner syrup, just add a bit more water.
