Face masks are good for sloughing away dead skin cells, clearing out pores, smoothing fine lines and helping to hydrate skin. There are plenty of different face masks available from the store, a dizzying array of them in fact, but take a look at the label and you will see a lot of these contain undesirable ingredients and toxins you really don’t want to be putting on your skin.
With that being said, did you know you probably already have ingredients for homemade face masks laying around at home? Some face masks are better for specific skin types, while others are good for every kind of skin. Below are a few face mask ideas for you to make in the comfort of your own home with very little effort.
Before applying any face mask, it is important to open up your pores. Doing this will allow the face mask to work more effectively. Simply place a hand towel in warm water then squeeze out enough water so the towel isn’t dripping. Place the towel over your face, or pat your face with it for 3-5 minutes, warming the towel up frequently. Simply dry your face before applying the mask.

Recipes below will make enough for one person.
Strawberry Yogurt Face Mask
Let’s not get into any “dairy isn’t Paleo” debates, for the use of yogurt here is for external purposes only and while it isn’t always good for consumption, it’s great for cleansing and rejuvenating the skin. Of course, quality always matters and the little amount you need for making the face mask hopefully will also allow you to support farmers who raise cattle organically in healthy conditions.
With that being said, this soothing and moisturizing face mask is one of the easiest ones you can make.
Instructions:
Place 4 medium sized strawberries in a bowl and mash well with a fork until an almost completely smooth consistency has formed. Add in 1 tablespoon of yoghurt and 1 tablespoon raw honey and combine.
Apply the face mask to your face then relax for up to 20 minutes. Rinse the mask off with warm water, then apply your favorite moisturizer.
Honey Yogurt Face Mask
This face mask works on helping to cleanse, brighten, and moisturize your skin. It is great for those who suffer from acne with the benefit of honey, which is not only soothing but is also an antibacterial.
Instructions
Combine 2 tablespoons of yoghurt with 2 tablespoons of raw honey.
Once everything is combined well, spread the mask over your face and neck and relax for up to 20 minutes. Rinse the mask off with warm water, then apply your favorite moisturizer.
Banana ACV Face Mask
This face mask may sound less appealing than the two recipes above, but it may just be the one that gives you the best results. Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) is known to help heal acne and skin blemishes, while tightening up the skin. Bananas are very moisturising for the skin and help in relieving wrinkles and fine lines; many in the beauty world call bananas the natural Botox! With that said, here is the recipe.
Instructions
1/2 small banana, mashed
2 tablespoons ACV
1 teaspoon raw honey
2 tablespoons yoghurt
Simply combine all the ingredients in a bowl. Apply a thin layer to your face then relax for up to 20 minutes. Rinse the mask off with warm water, then apply your favorite moisturizer. [author_bio name=”yes” avatar=”yes”]
