Instead, the addition of bentonite clay in this deodorant does the exact opposite. It helps absorb metals like aluminum and chemical pollutants from the body. As a detoxifying agent, it works to heal topical skin ailments and can neutralize odors with its antibacterial properties. (2)
Along with bentonite, coconut oil helps reduce razor bumps and skin irritations for delicate underarms. It’s often used as a moisturizer and has anti-inflammatory properties to keep your skin feeling smooth and soft. (3) Make sure to use organic, virgin coconut oil to get the most health benefits.
Beeswax helps to naturally solidify the deodorant into a stick and prevents it from melting. It’s a hard wax that comes directly from the honeycomb and is often sold in small pellets for easier cooking. Combine it with pure essential oils for a fresh scent like minty peppermint or floral lavender.
To get started, melt the coconut oil and beeswax in a double boiler over medium heat. Stir in essential oils and bentonite clay. Pour it into a deodorant mold and refrigerate for one hour to set. For best results, use daily before any activity.
