During the summer, I tend to crave lemonade – and when I say that, I mean I actually drink glass after glass of the refreshing stuff, because it cools me down easily.
If you’ve never made your own lemonade before, this summer is the perfect time to start. All you really need is a handful of ingredients – water, fresh lemons, turmeric powder, fresh ginger, raw honey, and fresh mint.

The taste of spicy ginger intertwines with turmeric, mint, and citrus to wonderful effect. You’ll want to whip up this recipe all summer long.
Mix Up The Citrus
If you want to add some extra kick to your lemonade, mix up the citrus add-ins. Add an additional 3 tablespoons of fresh orange or grapefruit juice together with the lemon juice.
Helpful Tips For Getting Started:
- Stick to the powder. While you can use fresh turmeric root in this recipe, I recommend using turmeric powder or dried turmeric root because of the nice color it delivers.
- Keep it vegan. If you don’t have raw honey on hand, or would simply prefer to keep this recipe 100 percent vegan, replace the raw honey with equal amounts of maple syrup.

Gut-Healing Turmeric Ginger Lemonade

- Large pot
- Fine-mesh sieve
Ingredients
- 6 cups water
- 2 t ground turmeric
- ⅛ t black pepper
- 1 T fresh ginger, peeled and sliced thinly
- 2 T honey
- 1/3 cup lemon juice
- Fresh lemon slices, for garnishing
- Fresh mint leaves, for garnishing
Instructions
- Combine the filtered water, ground turmeric, black pepper, and ginger slices in a large pot over medium heat. Bring to a boil, then lower to simmer for 15 minutes.
- Strain the liquid through a fine-mesh sieve and stir in the honey while hot.
- Allow the liquid to cool approximately 15 minutes before stirring in the fresh lemon juice.
- Pour the lemonade into glasses and garnish with fresh lemon slices and mint leaves.
