If you love swordfish, then you know that swordfish steaks are absolutely delicious…but it has to be prepared and cooked properly. The great part about this oily fish is firm enough to be cooked on a grill or even on skewers.
If you’re concerned about the mercury in swordfish and other large fish, then don’t worry; according to Chris Kresser, these concerns are unfounded. He says it’s safer to eat fish than to not eat it, and there is one big consideration that people leave out when they caution against these fish: selenium. The selenium that is naturally occurring in the fish binds with the mercury and makes the fish safe to eat.
Now, the one group of people who should avoid swordfish is women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, because some of these fish have amounts of mercury higher than selenium. Other people, though, can safely eat it one to two times a week with no ill effects.

This marinade recipe is good to use to make swordfish steaks or skewers. I especially like swordfish on a skewer with cherry tomatoes and sweet peppers (green, yellow, and orange). If you’re grilling skewers, just cook the 1” squares on high for four to five minutes per side until just cooked through.
I got the original recipe from Paleo Cupboard and made changes to suit my tastes. I have to watch my garlic intake so I reduced that significantly; the original recipe calls for three cloves.
