In this success story, Lisa shares about how she lost 55 pounds after going Paleo.
We’re so happy to share Lisa’s inspirational transformation story with all of you. She originally got into Paleo because she wanted to cure her chronic insomnia, but got so much more in the end! Read on to see exactly how she did it:
1. Tell us your Paleo story.
I was vegetarian almost vegan for 18 years of my life. As I started to get older I started to feel more and more ill. My allergies were getting worse, my weight was increasing, I started to have intolerance to foods. I discovered Paleo from a friend who was doing it in April 2012. I tried my very first “relaxed” version of Paleo back in April 2012. I felt amazing! Haven’t looked back since!

2. How long have you been Paleo?
I started to formally embrace a Paleo diet in April 2012, but have been strict Paleo since about October 2012.
3. Why did you start? What did you want to change?
I wanted to improve my health. I felt sick of feeling sick all the time.
On top of that no matter how healthy I was eating I would keep gaining weight!
My insomnia was getting worse, I was moody, I was having such difficulty concentrating at work! I wanted to wake up and NOT feel like I was coming down with a cold every day of my life!
4. Was it hard to incorporate into your lifestyle?
I haven’t found it hard at all. Now it’s like second nature to me.
The only difference I found is now I need to be a little more organized and prepare things in advance.
5. Give us an example of a typical day (workout/meal plans etc)
On Sundays I spend about 4 hrs in the kitchen preparing my breakfast & dinners for the week ahead.
Monday – Friday my focus is on work & CrossFit.
BREAKFAST
Is usually an assortment of my favorite vegetables sautéed with a scrambled egg & avocado.
LUNCH
is usually small during the week as I’m on the go!
It typically consists of tuna with olive oil, a small serving of raw almonds, and a small piece of fruit.
On weekends it’s usually a piece of meat (like lean lamb!) or omelet and a variety of vegetables topped with whatever spices I fancy that day!
DINNER
In a typical week my meals would consist of:
– Free range lemon chicken with organic steamed carrots, zucchini, yellow squash, baby kale and baby spinach.
– Organic mexican beef with sautéed vegetables.
– Wild caught fish with Italian style vegetables.
– Free range homemade pork sausage with steamed vegetables.
6. What are the biggest changes you’ve experienced? Mood, energy, weight loss, changes in skin, etc.
I lost 55 Pounds.
My skin is much more clear and my eczema is slowly clearing up.
My hair is healthier. My teeth and gums have never looked better (and they weren’t bad before!).
My gastrointestinal distress is gone when I’m strict Paleo. Bloating is a thing of the past!
My chronic insomnia is gone! My moods are stable, and I handle stress better.
I’m full of energy all the time and I’m as alert and attentive at 5am as I am at 9pm.
No more sinus congestion or allergies.
My headaches are gone!
…and finally my attitude is SO much more positive and optimistic now!
7. How has this changed your outlook on life?
I feel amazing!
I feel like for the first time in my life I am alive and living!
I feel amazed that in the 27 years I’ve been alive I have never felt this good, physically or mentally!
8. What words of encouragement do you have for the Paleo community?
It really is worth it. Life is too short to feel mediocre every day. Paleo isn’t some fad diet. It’s a rewarding lifestyle! Thanks for taking the time to read my story! I hope I can inspire others to find their path to good health and prove that ANYONE can do this!
