Soak away achy flu and cold symptoms with a natural bath bomb made with soothing essential oils and muscle-relieving epsom salt.
Instead of reaching for over-the-counter decongestants and pain relievers (which can wreak havoc on the body), add this fizzy bomb to your next bath. Through natural aromatic scents, this therapeutic recipe is sure to help your body relax and get a better night’s sleep. Make them ahead of time and keep handy during cold and flu season.
For these bath bombs, we infuse cooling peppermint oil with soothing lavender to decongest and reduce aches and pains. Along with fending off common pathogens, the inhalation of these essential oils can help ease symptoms like nausea and headaches. Pairing them with the steam from your hot bath will give your immune system the extra boost it needs to recuperate your body. (1, 2)

The added Epsom salt includes high concentration of magnesium to help reduce inflammation and improve your stress levels. Often used for skin and health benefits, it’s a versatile ingredient you can incorporate into any beauty routine (just be sure to avoid any brands with artificial perfumes).
To get started, combine the dry ingredients in a medium mixing bowl and whisk to blend. Add in the lavender and peppermint oil, then use a spray bottle to lightly moisten the mixture as you stir. Similar to wet sand, the final mixture should be crumbly and hold well when squeezed.
Next, lightly grease the bath bomb molds with coconut oil and use a spoon to scoop the mixture into each cavity. We recommend slightly overfilling each mold, then gently aligning one mold on top of the other. Press down firmly to combine both sides together.
Then, remove the top mold and transfer to a cool place. Allow it to set for at least six hours or overnight. Once complete, loosen each bomb from their respective cavities, one at a time. You’ll need to secure each bomb in your hand and tap on the bottom of the mold with a spoon to release.
When ready to use, run a hot bath and add one bath bomb to the water. Allow the bomb to fizz and dissolve as you soak for 15 to 20 minutes.
Tip: You can also use large silicone ice cube molds to make these bombs.
