Let’s switch the focus to a celebration of your body.
The Feel-Good Factor
Celebrating your body will help to give you an incredible boost in confidence. With the added confidence, you will feel better at work, with your exercise and enjoying relationships with family, friends and your partner. It all goes hand in hand – you do one little change and it complements the next change. The more of these you do, the more amazing you feel, boosting your feel-good factor.
You not only define your own sense of happiness, you determine it.
When you feel good, you put more energy into exercise, you make better habits with nutrition and generally relax with yourself. The added bonus to this is the changes it will make to your body from your consistent efforts, such as fat loss, muscle definition, increased energy and confidence.
To finally feel good about your body, focus on these ten points that will help you to embrace who you are and celebrate every single inch of your body.
1. Show Respect
This is the only body you will have, so start showing respect for it. Be kind and caring to the body you have, and accept who you are. A little self-love goes a long way in helping to take control of your health and happiness.
2. Be Grateful
Instead of focusing on things you want to change, think of all of the wonderful attributes and strengths your body has. Make a gratitude list of attributes you appreciate about your body, from how you love your unique freckles on your nose to being grateful for a healthy heart.
In time, you will notice you feel grateful for everything about your body from the inside out.
3. Redefine
You do not have to meet the standards set by society in order to prove your worth. You are already beautiful. Set your own standard of beauty and shine with a confident glow as you redefine your perspective of what is beautiful.
You not only define your own sense of happiness, you determine it.
4. Indulge in Pleasure
Remember to allow yourself pleasure. Do not get caught up in all of the other priorities in life while forgetting your own moments of true enjoyment.
Never feel guilty for stopping to smell the flowers
This can mean many things, from dancing to your favorite music without a care in the world, enjoying a treat at a quaint café, meeting a friend for a visit, experiencing a new activity, buying flowers for your home, sleeping in one morning, or enjoying some time with your partner. Never feel guilty for allowing yourself time to enjoy pleasure!
5. Stop Comparing
This is one activity that must stop. You are you, and that other person is simply that other person. Comparing yourself to a celeb, model or athlete is pointless. When we’re so busy focusing on what other people are doing, this creates a tunnel-vision that can cause us to lose perspective.
Remember, everything is relative and wasting time worrying about how other people look will hinder you from living life to the fullest. Switch the focus to yourself and making the people you care about feel great– use your energy to celebrate life.
6. Wear Clothes That Make You Feel Awesome
Wear clothes that show off your favorite assets. Wear your favorite top. Put on your favorite earrings. Try different hairstyles. Wear the things that you love!
Most importantly of all, wear clothes that you feel confident and comfortable in.
7. Surround Yourself With People Who Lift You Up
This point is absolutely important and easily forgotten: surround yourself with positive people. Being around successful, happy and loyal people that smile and make you laugh will uplift you.
Surround yourself with people who inspire you to follow your dreams
Feel full of vitality and vibrancy by those that make you feel good. The people we let into our lives have a huge influence on our personal success. So, make sure you always surround yourself with friends and family who support your dreams and inspire you.
8. Negative to Positive
Switch negative thoughts to a positive one. As soon as a negative thought creeps in, throw in a positive thought and you will instantly feel better. Facing a problem at work? In a relationship rut? Look for the silver lining (it’s ALWAYS there, we promise) and learn from it.
Every morning tell yourself three positive thoughts – about yourself, your day ahead and what you love. Do this simple task every day and it will soon become a new positive habit.
9. Nutrition
As much as the preceding eight points are important for your mindset, this crucial point cannot be ignored. The better your daily food choices, the better you will feel. This goes for both mind and body, as nutrition and gut health have a big impact on mental health.
