Providing you’ve got your protein taken care of, perhaps with some leftovers from last night’s dinner, this smoothie provides a perfect nutritional punch; just the energizer some of us need first thing in the morning! Some mornings if I’m feeling a little stressed or rushed, I like to down a smoothie like this rather than chugging coffee that might make me feel even more on edge. If you’re feeling particularly brave you might even like to add a teaspoon of turmeric powder to aid with digestion and help bring down your body’s acidity levels a little. A compound known as curcumin which occurs naturally in turmeric is also a powerful anti-inflammatory agent, which is a big winner in my books. A friend also recently suggested adding a couple of raw whole eggs to boost the protein content a little – and no, her name wasn’t Rocky! I quite like this idea but if you are going to try this then I would definitely recommend sourcing your eggs from a reputable source to ensure the utmost quality and hygiene.
Ingredients
- 1 banana
- ½ cup dark berries
- Handful of spinach leaves
- ½ avocado
- 1 -2 handfuls of ice cubes
- 2 Tbsp raw honey
Directions
- Throw everything into your food processor. or bullet machine
- Blend until you are happy with the consistency.
Drink straight from the food processor jug if you’re really in a hurry; just be sure to wipe away your smoothie moustache afterwards! This is far from being the classiest of Paleo recipes that you might find on the Internet but it definitely gets the job done and should help you cover your nutritional bases when you’re in a hurry without having to resort to, shall we say, less than ideal food choices once you get to the office.
