You probably already know the struggles of losing weight if you’ve been suffering with hypothyroidism for a while now. In fact, this is a disease that has been slowly getting more and more well known as a ton of people every year get diagnosed with it.
As of today, there are an estimated 31 million individuals all across America who suffer from the condition, and this number show no signs of stopping! In fact, this number isn’t entirely accurate because there are a massive number of people out there that just haven’t been diagnosed yet and haven’t been given the treatment they need to get the results they want.
You’ll be surprised to find that there is a massive increase in the population who is suffering from a condition officially known as subclinical hypothyroidism. This condition usually comes about prior to the person getting full-blown hypothyroidism, but the good news is that if you take action, you can reverse it rather quickly. A simple change in diet will totally reverse their situation for the better.

The whole reason an individual with hypothyroidism isn’t able to lose weight is simple: it’s because their thyroid glands are not working as they should be. This means the glands are not producing enough thyroid hormones (T3 and T4), which are involved with maintaining your basic rate of metabolism.
A person that doesn’t have enough thyroid hormones in their body just won’t be able to burn the calories they need to burn in order to lose weight. This is exactly why people who are hypothyroid struggle so much with losing weight.
While it may be a little harder to achieve results, it isn’t at all impossible. You just need to make sure that you’re taking action on the tips that I share with you in this article below!
Tip 1: Get a Doctor To Properly Diagnose and Treat You
The most important thing that you can do in order to get your health back on track and set yourself up to lose all the weight that you want to lose is to get yourself checked out by your doctor. I’m being very serious here, you need to make sure that your doctor diagnoses you and then gives you the proper treatment.
Your doctor will basically give you a blood test which will measure two very simple things and they are… the amount of T4 and T3 you have running through your blood as well as the amount of thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) you currently have in your body. If the tests results come back and show that you have extremely low amounts of T3 and T4 in comparison to the amount of TSH you have then your doctor will officially diagnose you as being hypothyroid.
Of course as with anything out there, doctors have differing opinions on exactly how much TSH there should be in the body for you to be officially diagnosed as having an underactive thyroid but officially as stated by the American Thyroid Association you need to have a TSH level of 2.5 mIU/L or more to have hypothyroidism.
Once it is official your doctors will more than likely prescribe you with some medication that’s named levothyroxine. This is a synthetic form of the thyroid hormone T4 and by taking it you will slowly but surely help to get your level of thyroid hormones back into the healthy range!
This will help to get your metabolism up and running again which is extremely important if you want to lose all that excess weight in record time!
Tip 2: Begin Eating Meals That Are Rich in Fresh Vegetables and Quality Protein
The most powerful step of all is to start eating meals that are really, really healthy. That means you need to start buying healthier ingredients such as fresh vegetables and organic meat. The healthier your diet, the easier it is going to be for you to lose the weight you want to lose. It really is as simple as that.
You might be surprised to find out that protein is the most satisfying of all the nutrients out there. You will literally find yourself going through your day happily for hours on end without even thinking about food… exactly what you want when you want to lose all that excess weight! The other benefit of eating a healthy amount of protein is the fact that it will help to preserve all that muscle mass which is extremely important for keeping your metabolism really high.
But please keep in mind that not all protein has been created equal. This is why you must stick with the best that’s out there and in my opinion that is whey protein. The reason I say that is because whey contains the most amount of branched chain amino acids which are very, very important for your muscles and the other benefit is that this is the most satisfying to your hunger from all the proteins that are out there.
In fact to help you get onto the right path as fast as possible and without any pains here is a sample menu (which is Paleo and Hypothyroidism compliant) that will get you results in no time at all 🙂

Tip 3: Start Consuming A Lot of Fiber Rich Foods and Cut Out The Sugary Junk Foods
Trust me, the best thing that you’re ever going to do for your long term health is make sure that you completely avoid eating junk foods from now on. Eating healthy and balanced meals just isn’t enough when you want to lose the excess weight. You must do whatever you can to ensure that your diet is as clean as possible. Instead of processed foods, I’d recommend that you start eating more foods that are high in fiber!
Fiber is one of the most powerful nutrients that you need to get into your body, especially when you have hypothyroidism. The reason for this is that it will help to prevent those hunger pangs, which is extremely important when you want to lose weight quickly!
Tip 4: Exercise Consistently
Once you’ve improved your diet you are going to want to move onto the next stage, which is to start exercising as often as you possibly can. The reason I say this is because without exercise you’re not going to get the absolute best results that you can get. Even if you’re only able to dedicate a few minutes a day, it is enough to help your metabolism get a significant boost.
Not only will you be burning calories when you’re actually engaged with the fitness routine itself but you’re also going to be building up your muscle which is going to help increase your metabolism over the long term!
And as you probably already know, the higher your metabolism, the more weight you are going to lose over the long term which will mean that you’re going to look even better!
When you feel discouraged, just remember that hypothyroidism is merely just an obstacle that you can easily overcome when you implement the tips that I’ve shared with you in this article today. Nothing except you can stop you from getting the results you want! [author_bio name=”yes” avatar=”yes”]
