With the weather FINALLY starting to warm up consistently, I’m constantly craving smoothies! Eh, that’s a lie, I’ve been drinking smoothies all winter long. Call me crazy, but I truly can’t get enough of them, especially when I come up with a new killer combination.
My typical smoothie looks something like this: a banana, some strawberries, some spinach, some honey, some oats, some chia seeds, and almond milk. Now, there’s noting wrong with that combo (it’s one of my favs!), but sometimes me and my taste buds need something different. THAT is where this chocolate strawberry smoothie comes into play.
When you first sip it you taste strawberry and then a second later you taste the chocolate and together they are magical. Oh, oh, oh, and if you’ve never tried cacao—which I’m sure many of you have—but if you haven’t, DO IT. It’s like cocoa powder but richer and full of antioxidants. And by that I mean that it’s actually the highest antioxidant food on the planet. Pretty cool if you ask me!
Whether you use cacao or cocoa powder, you’re going to love the taste of this berry chocolate smoothie!
Chocolate Strawberry Smoothie
- 2 cups strawberries
- 2 tbsp cacao or unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 tbsp dairy free plain yogurt
- 1 tbsp chia seeds
- 1 tbsp organic maple syrup
- ½ cup unsweetened almond milk
How To Make It:
- Place ingredients into a blender and pulse until smooth.
